Software Reviews of Adobe Acrobat Standard 9Customer Review: Finally Adobe gets it right! Summary: 5 StarsLike many others, I've avoided buying Adobe Acrobat after version 5. Those versions tended to be slow and hogged too many resources.
This release is finally worth buying. It's very fast and has all the right features I was looking for. It was able to scan in a printed form, automatically find the fields, have it add a column of numbers and format them in dollars, all in in about 2 minutes including waiting for the scanner. It has reviewing tools for collaboration built in and 256-bit AES encryption (just be sure to use a strong password).
Customer Review: Acrobat 9 Professional - new upgrade on Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium Summary: 1 StarsEvery time I open a pdf after installing acrobat 9 pro., I get a message stating that my system has changed and that the software needs to be activated again. Attempts to reactivate online result in a reply message that the software is activated on more than one system, which it is not. I then activate by telephone, successfully, but the very next time I open a pdf, I get the same message that the system has changed. I have been stuck in this infinite loop for about a month. I have contacted adobe four times by telephone regarding this matter, to no avail. At one point, the adobe rep. researched a little further and told me I would receive an email within 48 hours with guidance on how to solve this problem. The email never came and the next telephone call to adobe was as useless as the rest. A word of advice to others considering upgrading to Acrobat 9 - seek other document alternatives; you will be happy you did.
Customer Review: Invalid Serial Number Summary: 1 StarsOrdered Adobe Acrobat Std 9 and when it arrived from China instead of the US I was concerned. Inside I found Acrobat Pro 9! That was my first warning. The box and CD looked official. After an uneventful install and reboot, the dreaded "Serial Number no good" screen appeared. A quick call to Adobe gave me "not an Adobe generated serial number". An illegal copy. I have returned the software to "Buy In Heaven" (AKA "Use in Hell") and hope to receive a full refund as promised. Beware of this vendor.
Customer Review: joins McAfee and Norton in the Bloatware Hall of Infamy... Summary: 1 StarsI recently heard about and downloaded the free Foxit Reader 3.0 and PrimoPDF, to use instead of Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat respectively.
Wow, wow, wow.
Those two freeware programs take up so much fewer system resources while performing 95% of the same functions, for FREE!
Reader 9.0 has especially become a bloated monster, and with it gone I noticed a substantial speed improvement with Firefox. Overall my Windows XP Professional system is now much more stable, and faster as well. It's almost as huge an improvement as I got when I removed all the Norton software, even.
Customer Review: Acrobat 9 Standard Summary: 4 StarsWe use ACROBAT 9 STANDARD for scanning to PDF, Printing WORD, EXCEL, AUTOCAD, etc. to PDF, updating PDF plans and PDF forms using the typewriter function and combining PDF Files to allow Plan Submittals to be one PDF file. ACROBAT 9 STANDARD performs all this quickly and easily and is much less expensive then ACROBAT Professional and requires much less effort then other PDF transfering software. The only problem that I found was that our multifunction RICOH 2020 could not scan directly to ACROBAT 9 STANDARD and I think this is a RICOH problem.
