Software Reviews of Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: NOT A WORTHWHILE UPGRADE Summary: 1 StarsAfter loading the software I tried a few of the new features and found some of them to be quite useful. The ability to view thumbnails easily and catalogue has great potential -- perhaps more so for a hobbyist than a professional with thousands of images. However there is not much that one could not already do with Elements 2 and a curves plug in. I believe Elements 2 is a great product. The response and performance of the version 2 is adequate. All the Adobe photoshop products have a learning curve -- but this product seems to be unwieldy and slow. It locked up my machine and took a long time to load.I returned it and will continue to use Elements 2 -- a great product. Not so for Elements vers 4. It needs more work.
Customer Review: allows you to make professional/studio looking photographs! Summary: 5 StarsWhen I first loaded this up, I was very frustrated. The electronic manual enclosed did not help me at all and there was not other manual in the box. I'm used to being able to spend a few minutes and figure out everything on my own and this was very diffult.
What saved this program were the great instruction videos availible on thier website. I was able to learn how to use some features of the program and now I can experiment and learn the other features with no problems. The help window inside the program is also very helpful.
This software does everything I could ever want to do with my photos from basic and simple cropping and color corrections to framing and removing dust, blemishes, adding effects, and changing shirt colors.
Pros:
-photo editing options work very well
-makes panoramas and you can use photos of varying heights and crop the picture later
Cons:
-not an install and go play program, it takes some learning and fiddling around
Prepare to be frustrated, but I think it's worth it. I've made some amazing transformations in my photos. ^_^
Customer Review: Really nice slide shows for TV Summary: 5 StarsI bought this version for the editing, and have used it for filing and creating slide shows for my TV. You have to have a DVD player that will recognize burned at home discs. Two of mine do, two don't. The "how to" manual is thick, and I haven't had time to learn very much yet. I think the programs only limits are my own.
Customer Review: Great program for your pictures! Summary: 4 StarsOK...first, you will never know how to use all the functions in Photoshop Elements 4.0 unless you buy those training books, because I try playing with the program to see if I can figure the tools out, but it's impossible (or I am just retarded). You can make scrapbooks, calenders, greeting cards, etc, and the most important feature: manipulating your photos! This program can do a lot of things...like changing backgroud, fixing red eye, fixing spots on your face (darn you acnes!), cropping things out, adding things in, and changing your picture into sketching style (filter/effects) etc etc etc...many many many things you can do! But I can almost guarantee that you won't figure out how to use all those functions unless you buy those not-so-expensive books and guides for Photoshop...so I strongly recommend you buying the Photoshop Elements 4.0 book if you are thinking of getting this software.
Customer Review: Adobe Photoshop Element 4.0 review Summary: 4 Starsi liked some of the new features like the magic extraction tool, the creation feature where you can make a slide show (with music!), greetings cards and order prints on-line.....i wish Adobe kept the zoom slider to enlarge photos you want to edit - it did make 'cloning' easy...peter.
