Customer Review: PSE 6.0 Catalog Runs Slow

I've read many reviews, including Adobe User Forums. I am sick and tired of having PSE 6.0 (the only one I've ever had), run like molasses in winter (but not all the time). Particularly, when I open it up into the Organizer and have some 2,300 photos cataloged. I have Windows Vista, 1.67 processor, 3gb RAM. I've read that when you put several Keyword tags onto the photos, that this slows down the catalog. Interestingly, it doesn't always happen. I have yet to figure out what the anomaly is that causes this to run so slow. Reconnecting missing files, checking to ensure file locations are mapped right in the preferences section, whatever. It just doesn't make sense. Either it should always fail, or never fail. But sometimes? Driving me nuts. It's been nearly 45 minutes now, rebooting, whatever you can think of, to try and get it going right. All I want to do now is highight every photo and remove every tag, eliminate large catalog, and get back to basics of editing and placing on an external hard drive with some sort of naming convention to make it easier to find what I am looking for. I would hate to lose the convenience of having photo stacks, albums, and keyword tags, but when the software has a bug like this, it's useless.

I ordered this product & quickly cancelled my order after trying the free trial download. Which, by the way.... for any software, I reccomend to all, to do try and find a free download trial to try, BEFORE you buy! ;)

The user interface of this software is dark grey..... VERY depressing.
I HATE it!! My creativeness hides amongst such darkness! ;)

Also, I am one who has self-taught myself about every thing, successfully, & fairly easily. I'd used the Adobe Photo Deluxe 2.0 for years, until our PC needed replaced, & it became obsolete for us to use at all. ;( Photo Deluxe 2.0 was soooo easy to use, and to get around.... no instructions needed. It was bright & cheery.

I worked at getting to know the Photo Elements 6 for several weeks, and it was so frustrating. I started to get a hang of some things... but overall, I still hated it. ;(

I now recommend Photo Impact Pro 13. It has won TONS of awards for user-friendliness!!
