It's easy to thumb your nose at Elements if you are an experienced Photoshop user because all the one-clickability of programs like this removes the pseudo-sophistication we geeks like to wear when it comes down to knowing the nuts and bolts of a program. So yeah, I was never interested before. But then I saw these promo videos Adobe was hawking for Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, and it made me a believer. Photomerge Group Shot and Photomerge Group Shot and Scene Cleaner are two of my favorite *time-saving* features. It took a little while to get a hang of it at first (the promo videos make it seem like a snap), and believe it or not, it took me a while to figure out the control panel and menus (a little different from Photoshop), but after a while of messing around with it, I began to appreciate its user-friendliness and I like how I can use it to show beginners and young graphic designers and older folks just how much they can do with these photo-editing programs. The templates are also very useful. Not always to taste, but nice and bright nonetheless.
Premier Elements 7 has supplanted Windows Movie Maker for me as my favorite video editing program. The tutorials, templates, and special effects available are just far, far superior. It feels like an ideal environment for someone who is just beginning to dabble with video editing. You'll find yourself gaining confidence quickly with your video editing abilities as you work with this program, and it's always fun to share your work with family and friends. This program makes it easy to do so.

As a longtime premiere elements user, this version is not recommended. Very slow response. Fewer options and they are hidden, for example to make a WMV, click share (not export), Pick some portable device that uses WMV and edit its settings.
Performance on a dual pentium with 4 gigs is slower than PE 1 or 2 on a single Pentium 4 with 1 gig of memory.
Wasted $99 and if you buy watch the rebate. They took months and then said I submitted more than 6 weeks after purchase, not true. And the don't answer the phone he you try to complain. I guess I'm going back to Sony Vegas Movie Studio

I am new to Adobe Photoshop. I travel alot and take lots of pictures. I wanted to have a program that I could be creative with my photos. I am starting from scratch so It is a slow process. You definitely have to be computer literate, which I am. I do like it and think I will enjoy working with it.
