Software Reviews of Adobe Premiere Elements 4 [OLD VERSION]

Customer Review: Memory Hog w/Few benifits
Summary: 1 Stars

Since this product was from Adobe... I expected something good, if not great! I am sorely disappointed. The app is available for a free trial download, and I highly recommend trying before buying. This thing rendered a 1GB+ file in avi for a 3 minute clip... which took nearly a half hour to export! Even when mixing down to a lower quality format, the files are stupendously large. The controls were not intuitive for me, and the provided manual is a joke! The FREE MS Movie Maker, while not having as many bells and whistles, is far easier to learn and will produce good results for the average Joe. Only thing I use the Adobe for now is titles and credits... almost forgot, the audio file this thing renders is a badly mangled version of the original. DO NOT BUY

Customer Review: Great product, Great price
Summary: 5 Stars

We enjoyed Premiere Elements 3 but we needed to upgrade to 4. Both products work great and we'd recommend them.

Customer Review: Great Product...even for VISTA
Summary: 5 Stars

I have no idea why people are having problems with vista. I have vista home premium, and it hasn't crashed once, its not slow...its PERFECT. Maybe a little hard to use at first...but the more you use the more you get to know what your doing!

Customer Review: Bugy, re-Alphaquality Software. Should have never been released with many bugs
Summary: 1 Stars

I downloaded to test to buy since I was looking for a good re-encoder for AVI files. Adobe has a good re-encoder. It works. But I dicovered I have better conrol converting AVI to WMV using free Microsoft Media Encoder. As for Video editing, I wished the product would be more stable. It keeps crashing with programmer's exception/bug messages. User Interface is confusing. A simple task of adding a title or overlay title is a major task. Adobe is trying to merge Apple Product line with Windows product line: the User Interface attempts to like Apple's User Interface. This means if you are used to Windows, the hybrid (neitherApple nor Windows)interface becomes extremely confusing: you save some thing but no idea where it was saved. Need to navigate backwards to find a location etc. It is puzzling to me how Adobe with such reputation puts such a poor quality bugy sofware with unnecessarily confusing and complicated user interface. Why don't they test it themselves before releasing the product? Download for a test drive and make your own call. I made my decision, unless I see a serious effort by Adobe to fix the product, I am not buying it now and uninstalling the product from my system:
Using Vista 64, 2 G RAM, Dual Core AMD

Customer Review: Adobe Premium Elements 4
Summary: 4 Stars

Have used last three versions of this product and it's not perfect, but for the money it's got to be one of best if not the best. Have used many other including Sony. This interface is very easy to learn and works well, does a real nice job creating those "home movies". You do need some PC horsepower to run this or any decent editor as the file size is very large and lots of effort is required to edit. If just starting i would suggest MS Movie Maker (comes free with MS OS)and see if you want to do more sohisicated editing. Gave it a try and do check the Adode forum for great advice.
